Me being the muppet i am decided that i wouldnt buy all DD's uniform that has the school badge on until nearer the start of the term. Now, because the school has had summer activity days when they have been open i assumed they'd have the reception open so i could at least give in the order form with the money and pick up DD's uniform the day before school starts. I was wrong. DD goes back on the 6th. They're only allowing me to put the order in on the 4th. It takes 2 days for the order to go through and the uniform to arrive. This means that the uniform will be ready for pick up on the 6th. The day DD starts back at school. So for that day DD will have to wear a cardigan the same colour as the schools because unless its there before DD goes into class, i cant swap over the cardigan with the named jumper. I am completely disorganised. It seemed silly to buy DD's uniform 7 weeks before she starts school. But now im wishing i had done it. :(

Is anyone else not prepared as well as you thought? I've got DD's school shoes, pair of trainers, plimsoles, wellies, waterproof jacket, trousers, polo shirts, scarf, hat, gloves, lunchbox, water bottle and juice bottle. Lesson learnt. Uniform order goes in the week before she finishes for summer hols.

Don't worry! And you won't need to remember in future years as you will make your DCs fit into their old jumpers in September no matter how much they've shot up in the summer.

Edith that just reminded me of a conversation i was having with my friend 2 days before the end of term. The kids shoes all were scuffed and had holes in, the jumpers were covered in glue that just wouldnt come off, their trousers had holes in and were now ankle swingers, their polo shirts were no longer pretty white and in general they all looked ready to have a break.

Thank you for the pat and the cuppa :D

I've forgotten to get DS1 new school shoes but I am sure he will be fine until next weekend when we can get to the shops. Wink

DD was very comfortable in her uniform in June, so I didn't buy the next size up.

2 months later she decided to grow and while it still fits snuggly I need new sizes. Obviously M&S is now fully sold out.

So I will have to hunt down them as soon as they re-stock.

Same with shoes which we only bought in May when she already had one growth spur.
