practical advice needed - wait list Reception and uniform

To make a long story shorter: late admission case, got allocated a Reception place to a not-so-good school B which is 2 miles away but we're 2nd on the wait list for great school A, which is only 400m away.

LEA told us that we might get a place at school A in the first few weeks of September but no guarantees obviously. DD is supposed to start at school B on the 10th of September; school A starts on the 5th of September as they are doing inset days on the 3rd and the 4th. So theoretically by next Friday the 7th they would know if they have places available.

I studied both schools' uniform list and there are some common items (pinafore, socks, shoes, plimsolls).. which I already bought. However, the cardigan, tie, shirt, bookbag, PE bag etc are with school logos/colours.

School B logo items are available from a store, school A stuff is avail directly from the school.

Questions:

How many logo-ed items should I buy from school B and when? Should I do it now or wait until last minute meaning Friday the 7th? What if I wait and the store's supply will run out (does that happen with logo-ed stuff?)

And when buying directly from school A assuming we'll get a place... can they usually provide everything right away, is there a wait time, do they ever run out of things at the beginning of the school year?

I know all this might sound silly but I'd really like my DD to - go to school A (since it's literally next door and it's a great school) and also have the proper uniform from day one.

Many thanks in advance.

I'd phone up School A and see what they suggest. I'd be loathe to pay for lots of logo'd stuff, only to have the DC change schools the following week. A lot of schools don't absolutely insist on logo'd stuff, my DS's scholl is red, and the polo shirts have a logo on them, but the school doesn't mind if you buy a plain one. Check with School B, this might be the case.

*school, not scholl

You are not obliged to buy the logo stuff

Thanks, I know I'm not obliged to, but I'd like to... I figured one cardigan and one tie won't break the bank if we need to start at school B.

I thought school staff was on vacation until next week and schools were closed, or it's only teachers who return next week?
