School bag and pencil case in year 3?

Sorry if this has already been done?

I did spend £4 on a book bag when she started which I have only ever seen on the last day of term.

Should I get her a little bag? If I get a her a bag with a strap she might actually carry it, unlike book bag.

When did your dc start taking school bag?

Tia

What does your school advise? My DD1 had to have a satchel, stationery and pencil case from Y3 but the school let me know.

What does she carry each day? Does she have a reading book and 'day book'/diary that needs to go each day? That's what the book bag is supposed to be for, to keep books separate from water bottles, packed lunches and other leaky, lumpy stuff.

School hasn't mentioned it. No diary so far as I know, and daily reading is done in school so no reading books coming home. Just 2x per week homework a4 sent out in special homework plastic bag. I wish I'd looked at the year 3's before school broke up. They use a different entrance, so hadn't really clocked what they carry.

Can you email a parent in your daughter's class - one who has an older child at the school - and ask what the arrangements in Y3 are? You don't want to waste money. I also found that asking a 7 year old to take stationery in with a pencil case is simply a means to keep Staples in profit. Smile

Yes baffled, I have that suspicion. I have actually thought of a parent who fits that description and I do actually have her email. I will email her although suspect that she couldn't care less about pencil cases and school bags. Perhaps I should emulate her.Smile

I am teaching year three this year... I'm hoping I don't see any pencil cases!

Get a see through zip wallet and then the can slot into bag / ruck case of choice.

If you get a bag dc can put lunch box, cardigan and wet top in. At weekends Dc just take out school wallet. Teaches them to take responsibility
