January or October school 'census'

Hi,

I know that the school funding for the year is set by number of children registered at the school on an agreed date in January.

I understand - from Mumsnet - that this is changing to October soon.
Does anyone know when this is happening - this year - ie october 2012 - or next?

Yes the funding from April 2013, will be based on the number of children in the school on the set date in October 2012.
There is the issue of reception pupils deferring entry and whether they count and according to my sources the DfE is making an allowance based on past level of deferral for schools. My guess would be that will come under the well worn statement that the funding is within your budget! Finding it might be more difficult.
