Im currently on mat leave but when i posted on this earlier in the year there was some uncertainty. Are there new teaching standards coming in? Do you still apply for threshold? If not how do i get onto upper pay scale?
Sorry for all the questions but due to a big management shake-up and new head in september i have nobody to ask even if i wasnt on leave

Haven't got exact details as not in school at the mo but met with some teacher friends the other day and they were saying something about being consistent outstanding lessons etc for threshold. Sorry my details arn't more specific

That seems tough. Ive had goods and some outstandings but have colleagues already on upper scale who get satisfactorys. I wish id done it lasr october but was a bit preoccupied being pg.

I think you probably should have applied last year Grin as it looks like threshold applications are going to have to be supported with evidence next year. Your SLT should tell you what they actually want you to give them. Obviously p.m. will play a big part in this still, but they will need evidence of progression made by children, etc.

Actual UPS threshold standards are being set by individual school or consortia, as the new teaching standards aren't clearly defined into the standards necessary to pass from level to level.

The Gove-ernment has given schools a lot of work to do next year in setting pay thresholds, rigorous p.m. reviews, and, written SLT reports for teachers Hmm, to name but a few.

All in the name of progress Hmm.

Thanks that is much clearer. I guess ill have to have a chat with our new head. I think ill have all on just going back to work so this might have to be put on hold again :(

I'm on M6 this year when I return from mat leave - I thought threshold just happened! Better crack on with that...
I'm on SMT - this has honestly never come up unless I wasn't listening

mumnosGOLDisbest · 07/08/2012 21:27

Ive been on M6 for a good few yrs now but never gone through threshold due to changing jobs and having babies. It certainly hasnt 'just happenef' sorry.

I began to apply last october. Had to explain/evidence how id met the core standards and be working towards it in the last 2 yrs performance reviews. It was just too much to get together whilst pg.

Now it looks like individual heads/schools will be setting standards and we'll need more evidence. Its all very unclear. Wish id done it last october now :(

I'll try and think about it when I go back. I know they'll try and make things tricky for me because they don't want me to be part time Sad
Good luck with your application.

This looks a bit scary! If I went through the threshold before having dd1 seven years ago, would I have to reapply now? All the supply I've done has been paid at higher rate so it would be a blow to go back to m6 (although I could see reasons why).

mumnosGOLDisbest · 08/08/2012 21:35

Thanks little and you too. Im not back at work till jan so ive got a while to worry think about it too.
molehill if youve done your threshold i wouldnt have thought they could take it back. You might want to read up on becoming a 'master teacher'. No idea what that means but apparently thats what we should all be working towards?!

Molehillmountain · 08/08/2012 23:11

I think my days of working towards being a master teacher may be over. Doubt they're looking for master supply teachers, if they're looking for supply teachers at all Sad

mumnosGOLDisbest · 09/08/2012 13:07

Afraid you could be right molehill :( our school tends to cover internally now and uses hiltas more and more :(
