Can anyone help me understand my daughter's Reception report?

It goes on about "making progress within the context of the early learning goals".

What does that mean? It doesn't give any sort of grade or say whether progress is at the level expected or not.

I expected her to be marked well in her reading but it just said "progress was within the goals" and mentioned basic things such as knowing which way to read text, which she knew before starting school.

I have no idea what any of it means. It seems to be a jargon-filled formula used for each area of development.

Are teachers not able to be more specific? How do I know how well she is doing?

Ooh bumping for the same reasons! It all seemed to be automatically generated standard responses, although we did get a lovely report from one of his teachers....bit confused really

I still haven't had ours

Am getting a teeny bit impatient now. But I know we don't get the EYFS scores (reception) because I asked already Grin

Hope that works. That is the framework used in reception. I have been given my dd's scores in relation to each part of the framework. I think the expected level is 6.

It means she is working at the level expected for her age.

I think it means that she hasn't completed all the early learning goals, but is working towards them, and at the level expected for Reception.

Thanks all.

I have downloaded the frameowrk criteria and now it makes much more sense.

I remember being very disappointed with the cut and paste formulaic Reception report my ds got. Sat in garden with a friend and compared reports- almost identical. A very lazy report I thought.
However, other years have been more personal- so far!!
