Level 6 Maths - threshold increased ?

I gather , rumour only, that the pass threshold has increased from 25 / 50 to 34/50 this year .

Therefore a number of children who would have passed last year (I know only a trial) would not get a Level 6 this year.

Any ideas ?

Any thoughts ? - as I said only a rumour

Yay Mintyyy what a fabulous score!

Well Done to Chicken's DS, Pointy's DD and Mintyy's DD.

Pointy, was the English paper marked "in house" ? - perhaps the thresholds have not been received for these as yet.

Mintyy · 10/07/2012 19:30

Yep, but I don't really know what it means Blush.

There was talk of some children in her year being entered for Level 6, but then the Head decided against it.

I assume that she wouldn't have passed had she been entered?

Hypothetical now, eh?

Sorry BOAST ALERT

DS scored 98 in the 3-5 and 47/50 in the level 6. YES!!

pointythings · 10/07/2012 20:10

Yes, English marked in-house and I suspect they haven't yet worked things out re the grade boundaries. DD1 is stronger in English than in maths though - we'll find out soon.

Mintyy with that score she might well have passed L6 maths with the pass mark set at 34/50. It depends on what the school have been teaching her and her peers in terms of providing differentiation. Certainly DD said she was not surprised by anything she came across in the L6 paper.

Idontthinkso that is amazing, well done to your DS.

Here's a link to this years threshold. It appears, it went up for level 6 Maths. Well done Isontthinksothaks!!! Is your DS going to grammar?

DS was 3 points off the level 6 maths. Thrilled for his friend :)

TunaPastaBake · 10/07/2012 21:15

Well done to all - didn't realise that we get their scores - that will be very helpful whatever the case.

It will be very interesting to see what the % pass is for primary school children at Level 6 .

Ah well we wait and see..

DS won't be going to grammar, we don't have them here, but he will be going to an excellent comp with very good results.

Can't wait! Specially as his primary was in the government list of 200 failing schools - long story!!

TunaPastaBake · 11/07/2012 13:17

So the rise in the threshold - is that normal 50 % to 68% or is it a reflection on the primary school children being able to sit L6 ?
