School reports received yest for ds1 just turned 8 coming to end of yr3 and ds2 just turned 6 coming to end of yr1. Both boys have done really well. Ds1 has moved up a lot level wise this yr ending on 3b s across the board. Ds2 passed his phonic test and has achieved 1a across the board. Both teachers have said what a delight they are to teach how they can b trusted and relied upon in school. But what has gotmy goat is head teacher has commented 'some good progress'. Is this not just bloody miserable and a more positive comment would have been well deserved ??

I want to join in on the report stealth boasts too...when I was 13 my science teacher gave me an A+ for achievement and a 3 (ie satisfactory) for effort. He wrote "Must try harder." My dad ( a scientist) asked me why I was not putting any effort in to science. I pointed to the A+ and said "Why bother - I am getting the top mark without much effort." My dad called my teacher a prat.

Lesson - School reports comments are not worth much. and I was a science genius at 13 though crap at it now

Spot on Fishfingers!

I really don't get this post. What was the Head supposed to write? It sounds as if your children have made some good progress so you should be pleased with that. Did you expect the head to thank you for allowing the school to have your wonderful, genius children?

And last year my DD's comment from the head was wayy more personal than anything her actual Reception teacher had written. Though it was pretty much what your Dcs got. In a school of less than 50 children.

All DD's teacher had done was cut/pasted/used the computer to provide a list of the EY curriculum statements that DD had achieved. Word for word from the curriculum. We actually "rejected" the report as useless - it told us nothing that the tick box form already documented. Teacher re-wrote. Head apologised.
Be happy with your reports.
