Spell Checker - Best for 10 year old!

Hi

DD(10) has Dyslexia and has problems with spelling.

When doing homework she spends most of the time asking how to spell/get me to check her work. This takes homework from 1/2 hour to 2+ hours.
She gets fed up and doesn't want to do her work at all.

I was wondering if an electronic dictionary & spell checker would help her find/spell the word herself instead of asking. Hopefully this would make her more independent.

Just to say ( i don't want to drip feed), she has no problems doing her spelling lists and can learn them, but when doing any other comprehension, she spells alot of it wrong.
Her reading level is high. ( she completed the primary school test thing!)

Sorry this is long,

So, does anyone use a spell checker with their DC and if so can you recommend one.
TIA x

If she finds the spellcheck on computer useful, she would definitely find a pocket spellchecker helpful when doing her written work by hand. It's not much different from using a dictionary except it is much, much quicker and will also come up with suggestions if she is wide of the mark, eg if a she thinks a word begins with S and it actually begins with C. I can't recommend a specific model - I think the more expensive ones come with lots of extra functions which she probably won't need. It might be best to try a basic one and see how she gets on.
