just had DS1's reception report.
He is doing really well with most things and I am really happy,

I have noticed however that his creative development was significantly lower than his other scores.
Is there something I can do to help with that or should I just leave it.

Also we were given a number but no explaination of what that number is or what it means. His number is 113, seems so random, now a percentage.. can you give me the inside info??

Thanks

sorry meant t say he is doing well (IMO) because the Always tries hard box was ticked in each section.

Does that mean he got 9's in everything and a 5 in creative development?

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 04/07/2012 22:13

Is the 113 IQ??

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 04/07/2012 22:18

I think 113 might be the points thing for EYFS, it's what they have for reception instead of National Curriculum levels like 1c, 1b and so on.

My child is in Reception too so I haven't really got much idea either and no reports for us yet.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 04/07/2012 22:19

what does that mean numbum

113 will be the total score from all the other elements.

AFAIK the creative development can sometimes score a bit lower, partly because of point 8. It contains a number of different elements and some LEAs and moderators will insist that there is evidence for all the different elements, mostly gathered from child initiated play and not teacher led activities, before the point is given. Some will take a more common sense approach.

HTH for now, although I'm sure one of the experts will be along in a minute.

thanks Bluemoon,

media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/pdf/a/assessment%20scales%20reference%20sheet.pdf this is the EYFS framework thing. i think the max score is 117 but I totally stand to be corrected Grin

I think the score is out of 117- 13x9

BlueMoon1084 · 04/07/2012 23:08

Sorry, it is out of 117. 9 is the maximum score in any area and means working beyond what is expected in early years. A score of 6-8 in an area means your DS is working within what is expected at the end of Reception.

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 04/07/2012 23:10

Grin I was right

Waiting for our reports now, parents evening at beginning of next week so we must be getting them tomorrow or Friday, surely.

eek, wow... thanks all... looks like my shy little lamb is really doing well as well as trying hard... YAY...
