primary teachers on leave - want to keep up to date?

I'm currently 5 months into my maternity leave and beginning to feel a bit out of the loop. I thought there might be others also on maternity or sick leave feeling the same way. Maybe we could keep eachother up to date or at least feel lost together and hold hands when it's time to go back @ the thought!

I think at the moment i have more questions than info. I've learnt more about the new primary curriculum here than through work. Im also hearing about new phonics tests which are all new to me.

I'm an NQT without a job yet - I might join you if I don't get it sorted soon! the phonics tests haven't been too invasive at the school where I trained, and really just served to confirm current assessment - nothing too much to worry about, I'd say. How long are you taking off?

Well enjoy the rest of your leave and don't worry about being out of the loop, we'll all be out of the loop come September, and before you know it you will be back in the hot seat!
I have an interview tomorrow and an interview on Friday so I am hoping to get one of them.
What age range do you normally prefer to teach? I'm pretty much an early years person, up to about Y2
Hope we get a decent summer though. I am looking forward to the hols now, and actually seeing a bit of my own dc!

ooo good luck wild.

been out for 8 years now and things have come and gone again. I am starting to read up on things now though.

Well I got the one on Thursday so I didn't go to the one today! I am SO happeeee!
Red don't worry since all the curricula has changed/is changing for everyone - EYFS this year and NC soon - everyone else's reading pile will be as big as yours!
I have taken a mat cover in a lovely school. The one I didn't go to was permanent and part time but with 2 weeks to go til the end of term I feel v lucky (not to say relieved). The HT is great and I can't wait to start.
