How can I help my DS?

I've just got DS's reception report. He's done fine but has a clear dip in the social and emotional development bits of the EYFS. Is there any way I can help him to make progress, or is this just something that happens as he gets older? It would be easy if the dip was in literacy or numeracy as they are something clear to work on, but the emotional and social bits are harder. He is a May birthday so still quite young.

Any ideas? Or should I just leave well alone and stop worrying? (School just say once he matures things will be better.)

my son was the same, had higher scores in everything apart from the social and emotional development, which were below where he should be. He is now at end of yr 1 and completely levelled out. i spoke to head about it mid year, when i had gone to see him about something else and he said he had matured really well. so, i wouldnt worry at this stage, i am sure he will mature out. I think with my ds he had struggled as i had another baby and he was playing up and didnt know how to deal with his emotions. i am sure all will be ok in yr 1.

Thanks for the reassurance. I guess I just have to wait it out a bit.
