My DD is in year 1. She has just told me she has reached the end of phase 5 and her teacher is doing assesments with her. She seems pleased but I have no idea what she is talking about. Can anyone shed any light? Don't know if I should feel concerned, proud or somewhere in between!

Letters & Sounds is a government phonics programme. It is split into 6 phases. Phase 1 runs from nursery onwards phase 2,3 & 4 are intended for reception Phase 5 is covered for Year 1 and phase 6 Year 2. Not all schools use it but many do because it's free.

Thank you. Sounds like she's at about the right place for her age then. Spendid.

My DC think the 'Picnic on Pluto' game is hilarious.

Wonderful. Thank you. She'll love that!
