Hi all - I'm calling on the mumsnetters collective wisdom of these Maths sites, the pro and cons:

Mathletics
Mathswhizz
Mathsfactor
Bbc bitsize
Education city

Just to add to the mix, I'm a big fan of Mangamaths. Mainly because DS really enjoys it. It's much broader/extensive than bbc bitesize. There are lots of games interspersed with little learning nuggets. You can try some for free. If you subscribe your child's progress is monitored. (I haven't tried the other subscription sites.) DS prefers managmaths to the site they use at school.

We like Khan academy.

It's very old fashioned and geeky, and no games so far, just the voice of a bumbling man who seems to make mistakes and get confused a lot, explaining how to do maths with the aid of coloured chalk and a black board.

For some reason, despite him seeming confused and hesitant, the DC find him really clear. Things that school haven't managed to get them to grasp in two years it took Khan 30 seconds to teach online.

I like Arcademic Skills Builder (and it's free!)

Thanks GraGra, that looks interesting. I've signed up to a free account to see what my daughter thinks of it. I think it's something that will appeal to her :)

Arcademic skills builder is something my children have used and seem to enjoy it. Education City was used a fair bit at my children's primary school and we subscribed to it at home too for a few years. It was very good initially but my children became bored with it (I guess using it at school and home) so we no longer subscribe.

I have used maths whizz and then mathletics through school. We liked maths whizz much more. Mathletics is quite dry and clunky in its presentation. Maths whizz seemed to adjust itself to the progress of the child whereas mathletics is just the same over and over.

Mathletics has a live feature where you race to do sums against other children which can be fun.
