Does this mean what I think!?!??!

Hi everyone,

We have been number one on the waiting list for our preferred school for about a week now (having jumped from 3-1 in the space of a couple of days). However when I last spoke to the admissions, someone told me "off the record" that I was now "off the waiting list...and that I should wait for the second round of allocations letters" (to be received tomorrow thankfully!). Does this mean what I think it does?!? Am too worried to get excited yet. Also if someone had taken me off the list in error, could I go straight back in and get a place as it should theoretically be mine?!

Thanks in advance x

Yes, must mean you have a place. How wonderful for you.

It means that somebody is doing something that they should not be doing, that is giving you an expectation that there is the offer of a place coming your way. You should still be on the waiting list until you have received an offer of a place and accepted it.
I hope that you do get a letter tomorrow with good news but in my opinion it is being handled badly. They should either have said there is an offer in the post to you, expect tomorrow or you are still number 1 on the list, not an "off the record" conversation, that is the way that mistakes happen.

I have my letter!!!! 9 days short of my appeal which I ironically also received in the same post! Bottle of champagne for husband and myself tonight I think! Good luck to everyone else still waiting x x

Grin We are incredibly lucky to live in an undersubscribed rural area. I really feel for those who don't. School places should not be so stressful.
RandomMess · 23/06/2012 11:25

Fantastic, ensure that you accept the place!

Thanks everyone. Went to our 'new' school summer fair today too so timing was ideal. Such a great feeling seeing him with all his little friends x
