Hearing problems?

The teacher mentioned to me today when I picked ds up, that she has noticed that since before half term, he is often in his own little world. She asked if I had noticed any problems with his hearing. His ears are sometimes quite waxy by the way. I asked if it was a problem and she just replied to keep an eye on it. Is it such a problem for him to be in his own world? It has got me a bit worried. He doesn't have behavioural problems and is good at concentrating generally when he wants to. Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this/if it is a problem/what I can do?

not necessarily a problem if it's just that he's a bit day-dreamy.
but if you think that he can't hear properly then yes, you need to get that checked out

how old is he?

he's in reception year. He doesn't have a constant hearing problem by the way. He does sometimes have selective hearing, like I will call his name and he ignores me but then you say sweeties or chocolate and he will turn his head
