When are these generally issued? Is it at the end of this term or will they be in the next week or two?

No firm rule. It's on our school website, I only noticed yesterday when checking dates for the summer fete, so I suggest you either phone direct to ask or see if there's a notice on their website calendar.

Ours come out 6 July, apparently. DS's private secondary school won't have them out until 12 July.

Close to the end of term, but not the very end of term, as you're meant to be able to talk to the teacher about them after they've been issued.

At dd's school generally the day before school breaks up - they then ask you to sign & return them with comments & you get it back finally on the last day.

One occasion it was two days before school broke up for the Summer holidays, which didn't go down well with the parents who wanted to feed back on them. Since then it has been a week before the holidays.

I think we get ours at the beginning of the last week of term.

Groovee · 21/06/2012 11:21

We got ours the first week in June, 4 weeks before end of term.

MerryMarigold · 21/06/2012 11:23

We get ours in time for a parents' evening, so you discuss them. Should be any time soon as we break up on 13th this year (Olympics).

Takver · 21/06/2012 11:44

Generally we don't have a parents' evening at the end of the summer term - it is once a year just around half term in the autumn term.

I see the point in that the idea is to talk about where your child is at with plenty of time to address any problems, and its ok the 2nd year they're in a class. But it does mean that every other parents' evening is with a teacher who has only known your child for 5 weeks or so.

If I were being cynical I would say that the timing of both reports and parent teacher meetings is placed so as to minimise your opportunities to have a meaningful discussion. The reports appear also to be worded so as to say as little as possible in as many words as possible though I think that's partly because of the software they use.

We get ours the last week of term. They leave just enough time for parents to read it and sign and send in the confirmation slips.

MerryMarigold · 21/06/2012 19:20

We're lucky as we get a parents' evening every term (state school). I guess the teachers are not lucky! I like that you can query the reports as even if it is not too late to change the past year, you can still definitely work on the identified areas of weakness for the following year.

Molehillmountain · 21/06/2012 19:55

Had ours this week.

juniper904 · 21/06/2012 22:04

Ours go out next Friday.

mimbleandlittlemy · 22/06/2012 14:31

We used to get ours two weeks before the end of term but now we've got a new head and it has been shifted to one week before the end. Given the fact they used to be begging for the signed returns with two weeks, I can only assume the poor school secretary will be sending out an endless array of parent mails to try and get everyone to sign and return asap on this new time frame.
