Am so thrilled. Have moved up two places in 5 days! May not even have to go through with appeal. Just to let all of you waiting know how fast lists can move! X

Loads of luck to you. We are first on waiting list too. We're going to the induction today, gatecrashing, just in case we do get a place, but have been told not to get our hopes up even though it's in London and you'd expect there to be some movement. I hate this not knowing though, don't you? Esp as we're having to pretend to the private school back-up that we're definitely committed to going there. Not sure how long to leave it till we get uniform etc. Anyway, it's encouraging to hear that lists are moving. Here's hoping...

And that is something that I think is something that should not happen. I know that induction days etc are good for the kids but it is giving them a totally unacceptable belief they are going to the school. Same with nurseries going to the "big school"
I am not blaming you pinkdelight, it is the school that is at fault they should not allow any child to go for induction etc that has not been offered a place.
Had an appeal very recently where the parent made what I thought was a perfectly sensible argument that as the school openly encouraged the parents and pupil to come to the induction day that this suggested that they would get a place at the school. Within the current admission code there is a paragraph (1.36) which says that the school or representatives of the school must not give parents an expectation that their application will be successful. With other issues around what had been going on at this school it led to an interesting discussion!
