Y1 teachers - tell me about it

i'm a FS teacher in my heart but am being moved to Y1. Tell me why you love year 1 as im dreading it a bit apprehensive. what do i need to know? ive been teaching FS for years and am out of touch with ks1.

I love year one because you see so much change in the year! Everything they've been taught in reception falls into place and they change so much throughout. I think its the year that you see most progress interms of the whole child.
It is hard depending on how your school what you to do it - you could do reception like for the first term then slowly build up into ks1 structure... it really depends on the class - whether they are mature or very young and need more time.
Its a fantastic year!!
