we have our on thurs and have lots of helpful advice from mumsnetters.

But what i am still not clear on is exactly what happens on the day?

DH and I are attending and I am writing out the notes for it, but do the panel ask us questions, or give us the chance to speak freely without questions? I am in a real flap as i just have no idea what will happen on the day.

In case its relevant , it will be an ICS appeal for a place at an RC school. We lost out on distance.

Oh, one more question- how soon after will we get the result.

Thanks

It's as Tiggytape describes.

If all the appeals are completed that day, our LA will try to ring parents that evening, with letters setting out the decision ASAP after that.

thanks to you too panel chair. we have tried to be realistic which in reality means facing up to the fact we prob wont win, but thewhole thing is so stressful and tiring.

thanks again .

The other thing I would add is that the normal procedure if there is more than one appeal is for stage 1 to be held with all the parents present. Same process but all the parents get to ask all their questions of the school before the panel ask questions. Normally as chair after the panel have asked questions I would check again with parents that they have no further questions that the panel's questions have bought up.
You need to concentrate as it is an infant class size case, on trying to find whether the admission authority have carried out the admission properly or not.
