Hi new to this forum just after a little advice, recently moved into new area , we applied for our sons to attend the school across the road from us. My youngest son got acepted to start at the school in september, however my oldest son who will be attending year 2, was not given a place at the school or any of our preferred choices, he was given a place in a school about 15 mins away and with a very poor ofsted report. we are looking at getting this appealed, as we cannot physically get them both to , two different schools on time. has anybody has an experiance with appeals particularly on this basis and what was the outcome.

Thanks

I don't know anything about school admission appeals, but if you try posting this in the Primary Education section, you're probably more likely to get replies from people who've been through this sort of thing.

Hi Pebbles27, we're moving this thread into the Primary Education section because we think - as misslinnet said - you'll get a better response there.

Hi
What start date did you put on the In Year App Form?
If you put Sept 2012, you will be in a pile of other parents who want the nice 'clean' start - at the start of the academic year.
We were advised to put ASAP start date (which was July 1st last year), by the school's head, as he knew that we wouldn't stand a chance in hell in September. Well, it worked, and we got in!
But, we had to take the place up within 10 days.. so, she started July 1st, 2 weeks before the end of yr 1. And it was brilliant.. no long wait during the summer, fearing the start in sept. Then, in sept, she and her friends started yr 2 together. No regrets.

I would check how your LEA applies the sibling rule. It may be that the sibling rule will apply in September when ds2 starts school and this will move ds1 up the waiting list. Some LEAs only apply the sibling rule for younger siblings though so you do need to check.
