'Phonics Check' on iPhone and iPad - Anyone tried it?

There's a phonic check app that's just come out on the iPhone. It purports to mimic the real check. Has anyone tried it before I part with my hard earned £1.99?

My son loves ABC pocket phonics, and his school recommended it as well.

I suspect you are referring to the Thrass phonics check app? If so, this name is misleading and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the DfE's phonics screening check.

Looks ok from a cursory glance but there is free info. on the check available on the DfE website.
