level 6 maths; what's in it?

Hello, just got my DS/s SATS results and he got a level 5A for maths. His school doesn't give the level 6 paper, so now I'm wondering how they'll keep him occupied next year!

I'm more than happy to run through some things at home to keep his brain ticking, but I'm not sure how to go about it; everyone says there's a lot of material involved in attaining level 6. I'd at least like an idea of what's involved. Any ideas?

Just because they didn't enter anyone for L6 this year doesn't meant they won't next year (they'll be more pressure on them to do so next year)

Nor does it mean they won't teach L6 stuff in class.

And just because he's a 5a now doesn't mean he wouldn't benefit from more practice and consolidation and application of L5 stuff.

Although of course there's nothing stopping you buying any of the KS3 workbooks and working through them.....

Wait till next year, and talk to his new teacher then.....

I'm just wondering how on earth you've got sats results so soon?

DS is at an international school abroad, Simbo; didn't realize we were working ahead of the UK!

Thnx for reply IndigoBell; KS3 books are an idea, but I wouldn't like to go beyond level 6. Maybe the school will enter for L6 next year, I hope so.

This book covers Maths Levels 3 - 6.

I quite like it.....

IndigoBell, thanks for the link; I've looked at the inside of the book on amazon, and it looks fantastic; I particularly like the way it divides the levels up so it's very clear what the new level 6 areas. Thanks again!
