Moving house

Quick question for admissions experts. My daughter is in reception. We will be moving about 7 miles away. The new village school currently has no places. My younger daughter will start reception in September 2013. Does the fair access protocol cover this situation or is it likely that I will end up with 2 children in different schools(with the same start and finish times) until my elder daughter is in KS2 and the infant class sizes do not apply. I have no real wish to move her this september but would do so if a place came up. We are in South Gloucestershire in both villages

The LA is obliged to come up with a place for your daughter somewhere. If there are no places locally they will invoke the fair access protocol to come up with a place. However, there is no guarantee that it will be the village school, nor is there any guarantee that your younger daughter will get a place at the same school when the time comes.

Note that the LA must provide free transport for your daughter if the school allocated is more than 2 miles from your home by the shortest walking route.

Thanks. Do you think they will consider the place she currently has 7 miles away to be suitable still? It is probably the next closest school to the new village and if so will they provide transport as it was our choice to move?
