kids growing at an alarming rate, need to stock up soon but don't want to do it the week before the 3 for 2 offers kick in, anyone know when it's arriving?

I think it is usually the week after half term, cunningly timed so you aren't so likely to go unless your children are of the rare after school/ weekend shopping fan type. It finishes a week or two before the end of term. Last year it was just 20 percent off though, not such a bargain unless your third item would have been gym shoes or a hair bobble.

Thanks Smile

I don't think M&S will be doing the 3 for 2 this year, they didn't last year, just did the 20% off uniform offer.

My eldest is starting primary in September so I'm new to all this. Is M & S uniform better than other places?

jubilee10 · 22/05/2012 07:34

I think there boys trousers last well. Ds3 is still wearing the three parirs I bought him to start last year and the still look good (a bit short though). Not a very helpful post if you have a dd.

MoaningMinnieRisesAgain · 22/05/2012 07:34

I got pretty much all DD's from there last year, cotton cardigans have bobbled a bit and one pinafore had a zip that broke quickly (they replaced it) but it has been fine. The stain resitant polo shirts have an assortment of stains on though!

In Scotland it launches today. Couple of weeks earlier than usual. So might still be a few lines to come. If you're not in Scotland try ordering.

20% off this time round. Hth

Dropdeadfred · 22/05/2012 08:25

It's online now

noramum · 22/05/2012 09:02

We have the uniform in our shop since Easter when I bought items for DD. Don't know about any deal but as the sizes I need are normally never in stock when the deal is on I can't care less.

I normally buy all year round and always have at least one full set one size up at home, just in case.

gingercat12 · 23/05/2012 13:47

It is in the shops now. 20% off as well.

NinthWave · 23/05/2012 13:48

I got some shorts yesterday, 20% off.

morethanpotatoprints · 23/05/2012 17:43

If you like good quality school dresses in your own dds age that actually covers their bottom as opposed to m&s micro dresses, the place for me is BHS I got 3 for around £10 and they are lovely. They also have a nice gathered waist rather than straight up and down.

shattereddreams · 23/05/2012 22:11

Hate M&S uniform.
They don't do cotton cardys in grey! All colours but grey.
If you have a tall long bodied child avoid it as their shirts barely reach their waistbands

Their vests however are measured correctly and stick out lower than their shirt proving my point perfectly

CardyMow · 23/05/2012 22:58

I find M&S best for girls uniform, but for boys trousers, having tried them from nigh on every shop known to man, Sainsbury's trousers wash and wear the best (well enough to be worn by DS1, DS2 and DS1's step brother, and still look new after 3/4 yrs wear. The best polo shirts I have found are the ones from Next - they don't go bobbly, they don't stretch, they don't fade (and my DS's have to wear pale blue, rather than white), and they don't shrink. M&S are brilliant for proper shirts, their non-iron ones for teenagers are brilliant, and their girls trousers are really good, but I find their primary uniforms a bit, well, lacking in the same level of quality. I have been buying school uniform for more years than I want to be honest about 11 yrs now, since DD started in school nursery. I have another 15 solid years to go until DS3 leaves Y11. That's a rather sobering thought - 26 solid years of buying school uniform. Wonder how many fancy holidays I could have had with what I have spent and will continue to spend on school uniform...

Shattereddreams - I get my daughters cotton cards in grey from m and s......??!

shattereddreams · 24/05/2012 08:30

They aren't 100% and I'm fussy!

Dropdeadfred · 24/05/2012 08:35

Oh okay - yes just checked and it's 12% polyamide . I think that helps keep its shape. I love them!

Groovee · 24/05/2012 08:46

My friend who works for M&S says its the 20% off not 3 for 2 again.

onebigyawn · 24/05/2012 12:41

Uniform offer in M&S is on now 20% off plus free delivery when you spend over £25

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 26/05/2012 22:25

Went yesterday and stocked up on polo shirts - bought 20! Multiple children and sizes but that should keep me going for a while Smile good to take advantage of the 20%off. They had some fab little girl seam free stretchy shorts pants too. Bought a few lovely summer things for toddler too, although had to get age 3-4 as she's growing so fast (only just turned 2 but big for her ahe) All in all a good trip.
