Hi to any mums in Arran,

My family will be relocating to the Isle of Arran this summer. Please could you let me know the best primary schools on the island? And are there any to avoid? Thanks for any help you can give!

As I have family on another Scottish island where there is no choice I did a quick google to see you choices. There is only one high school and 5 primaries though if is similar to other areas of highlands and islands children tend to go school closest to home.

Hmm Ummmmm - do you know much about the Island? In common with other small Scottish Islands it has a low population and very few roads. Fuel costs are high and housing isn't all that plentiful. Basically what I'm saying is you will want your dcs to attend the school closest to the home you find.

Not sure where you're moving from but in the Scottish school system you automatically get a place in your catchment school. You can then put in a placement request for another school if you want but not many people do. Not sure if there are league tables of schools and most schools especially at primary level are pretty good.

Jealous...

I absolutely love the Isle of Arran. Had some very happy family holidays there as a child, and went back for my honeymoon and had a completely different but still idyllic time. Grin
