admissions using different entrance

Hi I requested the walking route from admissions for my appeal , and it has the children going in a back entrance . This is not the main entrance in to the school and to my knowledge this entrance is only used by staff , can this be a mistake ? Should they not use the entrance the children use ? X

They should use what they said they would use. Was their method of measuring published anywhere?

It does seem unreasonable to use an entrance not available to children, but if they had stated that is what they would do, then they have not made an error in implementation.

The question then becomes whether the stipulation is so unreasonable to be considered perverse. But if that was upheld, then every single applicant would have to be remeasured. Offers cannot be removed from those who already have them (even if there was an error in their favour). There would then need to be an assessment of who would have got a place had the main entrance been used. Then it comes down to a numbers game - how many extra pupils could the school physically accommodate?

Call me suspicious but I would look carefully at the areas that fall nearest each gate. Might be chance, might be the school sneakily changing the intake..

Would you have got in if they'd used the other gate for measurement?

If not then there's not much point raising it in your appeal.

If yes then you should raise it in your appeal, as it's worth a try.

You need to look very carefully at the admission criteria and especially the detail of where the measurement comes and goes to. If you PM me the school and LA I will check up what it says for you.
