Maths SAT

My ds was not given a mirror in today's maths SAT. She didn't realise anyone else had one because the boy sitting next to her didn't get one either. She struggled to answer the symmetry question without the mirror but couldn't do it, hence wasting time and then didn't finish the paper. She is borderline 4/5 so this might have really made a difference. Any advice as to what I can do about it, if anything?

Probably not much can be done. The teacher/school should have done an equipment check before they started.

There was only one question where it would have been needed, but I understand the frustration.

Teach her to fold a piece of paper to solve symmetry questions in the future.

To be fair, it is a piece of equipment that they are meant to have. However, if they are L4/5 they should have been able to do the question without too much fuss.

I know that it was only one question but she wasted time trying to do it without - she could have done it with a mirror. She's not a natural mathematician but she really works hard, hence why she is 4/5.
