My dd (yr2)has had a lot of abscences this year due to lots of illnesses, school have requested a meeting to discuss this along with some concerns they have for dd - emotionally. She's an august bday & although ok academically quite immature socially. She was really happy in class but since the illnesses started in Jan isn't so keen, friendships have changed a bit & she feels on the outside of things, often feeling unwell & feels that no one understands her or believes she's ill including the staff. It's a tough one as I know she has genuinely has been ill but when well is ok but then will pick up another bug & be off again so I can see how it appears that it could be I don'twanttogotoschoolitis! Obviously I will be asking how they/we can help her socially but wondering what else \i can ask. Strangely she was quite high achieving, 10/10 in spellings etc, top reading band but since being off although to me seems as good as before ie - gets spellings right when at home she is only getting half on them right & just seems to be struggling a bit compared to before, not sure whether thats a confidence thing or if she's giving up. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated
