stilted reading level 8 ort

my daughter is currently reading level 8 ort and on one occasion was sent home with a level 9 ort. she can decode/recognise the vast majority of words, but since going up to the dizzy heights of level 8 (!), her reading has become much more stilted, when previously she read fluently. sentences etc are longer at this stage.

is this a natural stage of learning? will it pass? or should i mention it to the teacher?

oh! and does it mean she should be moved back down to level 7?

Hi not sure if this will help or not but didn't want you to go unanswered.
My dd is also y1 and is nearly 6,she is on white band.
I find that dd's reading becomes stilted if she is not interested in the story, some of the school books can be very dull,do you think this may be a factor?

yes mrsshears! definately! sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes on things! not sure what white band books are like, but the stage 8 ones have gotten really long and she's bored with them! that's probably a factor...they are a bit dull...

so she came home today with a level 7 and was much better - full of expression etc! she'd read this one with the teacher too today before bringing it home...
