Moving from Cumbria to Hebrides school before summer holidays!

Hoping for some advice...

I am currently living in Cumbria, where my son aged 5 attends reception class.
I am moving to the Hebrides in June, when my son will be on half term here. We will be in the Hebrides over summer and potentially staying there permanently.

I am a little concerned because at the moment I am unsure if we will have to move to Glasgow in August for work commitments, and I do not wish to unsettle my son by moving him into two new schools in a short space of time.

I wonder if anyone thinks it would be best to home school him for the remaining three weeks of June in the off chance that we may have to move to Glasgow. Or should I take him to the local school in Hebrides for the remaining weeks of June in case we settle there?... :(

I have spoke to both schools concerned who offer varying advice.
I feel like a terrile mother for moving my son around, but I have just graduated from University and trying to find a job that will help us in the future.

When's his birthday? Will he be starting P2 in August?

It is up to you, but I can't see much point in starting a new school a couple of weeks before the summer holidays. It almost sounds like enrolling a child in school when on holiday if the your holiday destination has different term times from your home area. It is such a short time, I would wait until you have more idea of what your are doing.

I think I'd be disinclined to put him in for the very end of P1, tbh. He will be the youngest in P2, though - a lot of children his age will have been kept back to start P1 this August, but I guess that would mean him essentially repeating Reception. Has that been suggested as an option?
