phonics screening check

can anyone tell me what format this takes ? will it be a written thing or a verbal thing ? i hate the thought of my boy being tested and feeling "put on the spot" :/

1 to 1 with a teacher they know decoding 20 real and 20 pseudo words should take 5-10 mins

written or verbal ?

for most children it should be quite familiar

he will have to read some word cards to his teacher
