Is your child going to to APS? Level 6 SATs question

Am a little concerned as my son has just told me that despite having done practice level 6 papers, and done well in them, his school have decided not to enter any children for the Level 6 papers. He is confident in his own abilities and so is not unduly bothered, but I'm worried that at secondary school ( the APS in the title) he will be with children from other primaries who have sat Level 6 and so may be disadvantaged when it comes to streaming or target setting.
I would llike to hear from other parents of children going to APS this September - did their primary school enter them for the Level 6 SATs?

A secondary school will almost definitely be very wary of a level 6 result anyway. I wouldn't worry.

Thanks KItKat. I know they'll have CATs in the autumn, but was wondering what other local schools' policy is re Level 6, and whether the other kids are likely to have been entered. I suppose really I'm just a bit annoyed as he was sent home with level 6 papers to practice over the Easter hols - why bother if they knew they weren't going to enter them for the test?

Most secondary schools do CATs tests with year 7 pupils when they arrive, and use a combination of those results, SATS and their own tests in the first term.

If you are referring to APS in N22 London, I'm pretty sure they only set in maths in year 7 all other lessons are mixed ability in their form groups, so it wouldn't make much difference.

If it's a different APS please ignore me!!

Thanks, it is APS in in N22, and it is maths that is the issue here. I'm just wondering what the other local feeder schools, eg Bounds Green & Rhodes Avenue do re the Level 6 SATs - do we have an equal playing field here?
