DD has come home with a practice KS2 Maths paper. How do I know what score she needs for a level 4; she only has test paper A.
Many thanks.

You can't basically as you need to have the scores from paper b and mental maths (which can make a real difference depending on the child's strengths or weaknesses) to calculate the level.

However I generally find that if they score over 20 on paper a then they should get a level 4, on the assumption they will get a similar score on paper b and the mental test.

You don't really. There are three tests, paper A and paper B are both out of 40 each, the mental maths are out of 20. A level 4 is usually around 46/7 marks out of a 100. So you need to be aiming for roughly half marks on each paper ( children GENERALLY do better on paper A than paper B)
Hope this helps

The school expects your DD to do SATs practice the weekend before? Shock. If she wants to practice by all means, but she should be relaxing as much as possible... My DD certainly will not be doing any school work this weekend.

20/40 sounds about right for a L4, has the school been clear about what level she is working at and what they have targeted for her?

What on earth are they giving her homework for this weekend?! Even DD's school haven't done that and they are SATs crazy!

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2012 18:26

DS ASKED his teacher for revision work for the weekendShock She gave him past papers and a rather old-fashioned looking revision book. He will be playing football all Saturday morning and all day Sunday - I don't know when he thinks he will get it done!

poor love, fancy having to do sats papers the weekend before sats...

I was dismayed to find that DS's school had sent home English comprehension this weekend as his teacher said she wanted them to keep their brains active right up to the test!

DD had two sets of practise sats papers of homework at the weekend!
