Good non-fiction reading scheme books

DD's teacher is desperately trying to get DD reading something other than fiction. She'll read poems occasionally but the school non-fiction books are at least 15 years old and painfully dull to read (even as an adult so it's understandable DD and others aren't really interested!)

Do any of your DC bring home newer, better/exciting non-fiction books? If so, could you tell me what schemes they are from.

(And yes DD does read non-fiction books from the library but they are just general ones rather than the reading scheme books her teacher wants her to read)

What year or reading level is your DD?

She's reading a variety of gold, white and lime band books depending on what it is
