Due to move my ds will need to move schools at the start of year 6. Would you do this? How can i help him settle into new school, he's very shy.

Some schools are better with new kids - due to more practice - than others.

None of my kids had any problem settling. the school we moved to has lots of kids come and go they knew exactly what to do to help.

He'll probably be fine, just want to make the transition easier

I did it. He was really up for it as his new school would have people who would move to his new secondary school so the transition to secondary wouldn't be so big.

He settled in really easily.

How long before they feel settled?

Hi, We moved last november but decided to keep our year 6 where she was, thought it wouldn't be fair to move her and she would miss all the year 6 events and trips with her friends of the past 5 years. She moves to high school this september and she is the only one from her school who will be attending this school, however I do think it is a level playing field when they start high school and they rarely keep the same friends they had at primary school. That said there does seem to be lots of movement in year 6 probably due to people moving to their desired catchment. We moved our year 2 to the local school and he was nicely settled within the first term. Good luck!
