Hi can anybody help ? My daughter has been refused a reception place at the school she attends nursery. But another mum who didn't even put this school on her application has got a place . She is now appealing because she doesn't want in . This to me doesn't make sense is this normal ?? Also a mum with a daughter in my daughters class put her application in late and has also got a place again this doesn't seem correct to me ?? X

Places are allocated according to the school's admission policy. If you do not get into your 1st choice school and didn't put another choice down you are automatically given a place in the nearest school where you fit the admission criteria.(could be as simple as distance from home to school) It also makes a difference if it is a faith school. You need to ring your local authority admissions team and/or school to request the necessary forms to appeal if you want to try to get your daughter into the school asap.

I answered on your other thread - perhaps you could get them amalgamated?
