Project type homework

So DD's homework for the next few weeks is to "research and present information" about the period of history they are studying at school. DD is in Y1.

We had this type of homework with older DS, but as he hated homework we basically used to find one web page, read it to him and then get him to write down some things he found interesting just to get the thing done.

DD is a different kettle of fish, very independent and likes to do her homework largely unaided, which I think is to be encouraged. However, how on earth is a Y1 child supposed to tackle this without a huge amount of adult intervention and argument ?

Did teacher provide a list of websites for dd to use?

If I was giving this homework I would allow the children to take some books from the topic table to help them as many y1 children find independent research very hard.

Oh and don't feel the need to write pages, just a couple of sentences and an appropriate image would really please the teacher I'm sure.
