School clubs - how do your schools do it?

DS wanted to try reception fotoball club this haf term, so I filled in an application form for him at the end of last term.

In our lower school, if your child gets a place in a school club you're not informed about it - so if you don't hear anything, they have a place!

However, I emailed the school sec on Friday to check if he did have a place and to ask if he needed anything special (I was just assuming PE kit/trainers) and she said football socks and shin pads!

Now, if I hadn't asked, he'd just have gone in to school today and not had those things. Would I BU to email the scool sec and suggest that if you need special equipment for a club, that she tells parents that??

How do your schools handle it? Thanks :)

At my children's school they already let you know what equipment/kit will be needed when they send out the application forms.

Also, you get a letter if child DOES get a place rather than if the child doesn't.

They send out a letter inviting children to enrol for each activity, that would have all the information in it normally and you would reply on a tear off slip and keep the letter for info.

Our school football club can be done in just PE kit/trainers though.

Hmm, that seems to be a sensible way to do it! Thanks :)

Oh and if you don't hear back you can assume you have got a place at a club. Although sometimes they do send out a confirmation note, especially for high demand/limited places activities or if more info is being given.
