waiting list places

DS did not get a place in any of the 3 schools we put down but did get a place at a school still being built.
I've checked the waiting list places and he's 16th for 2 of them and 23rd for the other. Has anyone got any experience of how much lists tend to move about over the next month till the places get reoffered in may? We are kingston borough council if thats any help.
Also we are likely to move a bit later in the summer as dc2 due end of june and its likely to be nearer one of the schools where ds is currently 16th on list. Does anyone have any idea if there is much movement after places are reoffered in May? DP really doesn't want ds to go to the new school and there is no way we can afford to go private.
This is going to be a horrible summer of waiting isn't it? Waiting for school places, waiting for baby to arrive, waiting to move house.....gah.

i feel for you so much going on all at once, they do seem awfully long waiting lists but just keep checking every couple of weeks to see if there is any change, and if there is any chance you may get in, i would not turn down the offered school just incase it becomes over subscribed and you end up with no school at all or one further away, you can always defer his entry or keep him in nursery if he is in one till the term after his 5th birthday, if and when you do move inform the LEA asap, you will stay on the waiting lists till end of december, and remember you can move further down the lists as new ppl register in the area as well as going up, we were on 3 waiting lists, dd was 23 of 23........4 of 12 and 8 of 11, year later we went further down, and we are now on the in year waiting list.....

2 schools have an intake of 60 and the other (one where we are 16th on list) an intake of 90 and yes I guess a fair few people in our area probably go private although I've no idea what percentage. I guess I'm just massively frustrated that we won't be able to magically sell our house and move in under a month and therefore move up a list before places are reoffered.
We will definitely be accepting the place where we have been offered but not being able to even visit it since its just a building site is also very frustrating. Also they will be building a walk in centre on the same site which is due to finish about a year or so after the school is ready so it will be pretty shambolic and noisy for a long time. I just feel like i'm in limbo!

Lots of movement in Kingston schools, some in Surbiton but not as much. Give it a few weeks, once everyone has accepted/rejected their offers you'll be either offered a place or much higher on the list.

FWIW my DDs go to an expanding school and it's been a building site for the last year (finished now.) It's been handled really well and the impact on the children has been minimal.
