Hi, i open this topic to ask info for a friend of mine.
Her DD is going to start St Thomas Becket in croydon in September.
She has heard that teachers will go tovisit them in the house. Does anyone know if this is the case? Do teqchers usuallly go to visit families before starting schools? The husband thinks it is only to double check the address.... :)
What about settling period? How does it work?

Thanks

I don't know about that school but where I am a lot of the schools do home visits. It is apparently to put the child at ease as they are in there own enviroment and let them meet there teacher.

It's pretty normal for Croydon Primary's. I don't think it's just to check addresses (or else I would have just had a visit with DS1 and they wouldn't have bothered with DS2 and DD) It's a way of seeing a child in their home setting prior to them starting school where they might be more uncomfortable/subdued for a while. They can get you filling out paperwork there and then, and maybe in some cases pick up on home situations that might cause issues in the classroom.

Thanks...and in which month does it normally happen?

I live in Croydon and I remember we had visits for my DS' and DD. We lived at different places as well. My DCs school is VA and the appointment was in the September that they started (the first week when all other years are at school). It's not to check address just as above said to make initial contact, take a photo for their school peg, and ask if you have any concerns. The only thing I could think of saying is that my dd is left handed.

Our school does them at the end of the summer term usually, so end of June beginning of July.
