we are in catchment, have medical reasons for needing one of 2 schools which we didn't get - will primary admissions give me reason for their decision?

you should receive a reason when you receive your paperwork from them cant remember if they tell you in the email or not..good luck

They should give reasons in the letter telling you that you didn't get a place. If they haven't ring them and ask. You are entitled to that information to help you decide whether or not to appeal.

Thank you both - I will reread our letter but I didn't notice anything. I will Ring them Monday if there's nothing.
All best

All schools have published admissions criteria, so you should know where you are in the pecking order of being admitted - these are usually numbered. Our LA has publishes a list of admissions to schools each year, showing the category the last admitted child falls into and how many children are on the waiting list. If you are in catchment and don't have a place, you may be at the edge of the catchment area. It depends on what the medical reason is that you specified that school. They may have discounted it.
