Offered a place we're happy with. What happens next?

dd has been offered our second choice of Primary sch which we are happy with and will accept. I opted for email notification and basically all the email says is place offered against the 2nd choice. So what happens next?

Will the school contact us by mail to see if we accept the place? Then what? Happy for any advice from folk who've been through this process already.

You will get a letter in the post with a form to send back to accept the place or in my area anyway you can log onto the admissions site and accept the place that way.
Then in a few weeks you will probably get a letter from the school with dates for any settling in mornings for before the end of the summer term and the details of uniform and such. Not all schools do setting mornings though. If you haven't heard anything from the school by say the end of May just give them a call.

In most areas you would have to confirm that you accept the place to the LEA. I'm guessing that if your email notification was so brief that you will be receiving more detail by post in the next few days. They almost certainly won't chase you for your acceptance.

Just to say that they DO have to chase you for acceptance, they legally have to write to you if they have not received an accept of decline for the offered school by the deadline and give you 'reasonable' (not sure what constitutes reasonable though) time to reply sating if you do or do not want the offered place.

Our borough used to have it that you had to send an acceptance slip in. This year, they say to do nothing if you want to accept the place and send in a form only if you want to decline it.

It should tell you on the letter what you need to do. Different areas have different procedures.

Wait for the letter.

After we accepted DD's place last year we didn't receive anything for 6 weeks and then a whole pack of forms/letter directly from the school.
