How do waiting lists work at catholic schools?

we got a place at out third choice school, which is nice but a couple of miles away, we found out today. Obv i would prefer our first choice which is nearer and our preferred choice.

when do faith primaries in london start their waiting lists and how do they work? do they start now or after people accept/ decline their offer of a place? Anyone got a clue how much movement there is likely to be between now and sept?

Also, do they update them all the time or once a month or so?

I know we are much more lucky than many but still feeling very sad .

All admissions are co-ordinated through the LA, as they formally offer the places. There is usually a two week period where parents have the opportunity to accept or decline the offer and after that the regulations call for places created by declines to be filled from the waiting list which is kept in admission criteria order.
It is impossible to say what level of movement there will be in any school, it could be absolutely nothing between now and September or a considerable amount of movement. It depends on all sorts of issues, like people moving and also taking up places in independent schools.

If you ask at the school when you enquire about being placed on the waiting list, they should be able to give you an indication of how much movement they expect to see on the waiting list in an average year.

They work on the same criteria as their admissions so if a baptised catholic moves into the catchment area they go to the top of the list and everyone else moves down the liat
