How can I help them?

DD (Y4) and DS (Y2) received their school reports today and they are both very average. DS I am not surprised with, he is making slow steady progress and is at the national standard in most of his subjects but behind in reading (he is also a summer born).

DD on the other hand has always excelled at school in all subjects except maths where she has held her own but is now behind.

How can I help them? DD is bright but I suspect a little lazy (will find the shortest easiest answer) and will give up very easily if she finds something difficult whereas DS is a determined little trooper.

Should I look into extra tuition, buy practice books for home or just accept this is them. I don't want this to seem like I am a pushy parent but I would like to think they are achieving their potential Smile
