Just trying to understand a bit better how RWI works. I also see discrepancy between RWI and ORT. She has been on ORT level 1 for ages and after much asking they have finally moved her to level 2. I think she should be on level 3 or 4 as she reads these with me with some challenge. The ones she is on have next to no challenge and not much interest. Also they have assessed her as level d-e and just put her on red books (though I haven't seen these) but she has only learned the green word cards and I don't think they are doing the red words yet. Not sure if she needs to move on to red words? I think given the right opportunity she'd move on much quicker. It feels like they are holding her up to keep the class together as only 6 of them are at this level. Really not sure whether to keep asking them to move her up a bit or just chill with it? She lost her initial enthusiasm and confidence with reading bigger books as she got so used to the simple ones school gave her. Using e-books and sticker charts she is enjoying it more now. Any help appreciated. Thanks
