My dd1 just have had an assement at a KM central. The tutor said her Maths is at level 3.8. Does anyone know what it means. She said level 7 is GCSE pass. The tutor is about to tell me dd's reading and spelling age just like the school though. But not sure math level?

3.8 is 3a which is a little above what would be exprected at the end of year 4. (average 9 year old)

Thanks BrigitBigKnickers...... dd1 is in year 4. But she is placed in the bottom group in maths at school so I always thought dd1's maths is very poor that's why I took her to KM to have an assessment. I don't understand.........?! So does it mean KM point 4 is like level 4 in NC?

When DD2 had her assessment at Kip I do remember they used the same levelling as the national curriculum and it matched her school level quite well if I remember correctly.

Perhaps your DD is in a very bright cohort- DD1 was in this situation- she was in set 4 of 4 all the way through junior school- she ended up with a 4a in maths at the end of KS 2 (slightly above expected levels) so it shows how bright the sets above her were.

Actually out of interest she is now 15 and about to take GCSE maths-she is predicted an A!

Thanks ???. That is reassuring. I?ll go to parent evening next week so I can find out a bit more from the teacher. Because my dd was a summer baby so I always wonder she may be disadvantaged.

I thought level 6 was grade C GCSE.
