Independent schools near Camberley

Help we are moving to Camberley and have a very able DD who has been left doing nothing in a state school. Have decided to put our savings into her education and send her private. Anyone know anything about the local private schools? Have been looking at Yateley, Lyndhurst, Hawley and Tormead (big trek to get to that one). Dont really know what we are doing re private so any help gratefully received.

Round Camberley there are some good state junior schools. There's a couple of large juniors which have a good range of abilities. Have you looked at them at all?

The problem with certainly Lyndhurst and Hawley (don't know the other) is that they are very small. So if she's very bright, you might be lucky and have like children, or you could find there's no one near her abilities and she sticks out.

Have asked around about the state schools and heard bad things, maybe people just sharing negatives but having been burnt before thinking private might be the answer. Think Yateley is bigger but struggling to sort through the marketing blurb of the schools.

Hall Grove is on the A30?

Have heard good things about both Yately and Hall Grove but I get the sense that Hall Grove is more of a "prep" school which does gear towards leaving at 13. For state juniors in the area, I really wouldn't rule out Ravenscote or Frimley CoE though in truth there are only two local schools that I really would avoid (PM if you want me to name them)! DS is being stretched and given a huge range of opportunities at one of the other local junior schools which we were nervous about before he joined, but we've been very pleasantly surprised. As I say, I live locally so PM me if you want some info on the state schools.

Yateley Manor is very good

Nearer Farnborough/Frimley means greater proportion of English as a second language students in state schools. It depends if that bothers you really but their Ofsted's are dropping.

There are Los of good private schools. St Neot's in Eversley was also on our list.

Hi there, I just saw this thread and wondered how you got on with the schools in Camberley? We may also be moving there and I am currently looking at schools there..
