Stanley Road - Teddington

We are moving to Teddington in a few months, renting first and then buying once we've squirrelled enough cash and sold our two Hackney flats (no small feat). On a reccie we found some lovely 3 and 4 beds we could afford (all things going well), but the most affordable ones were (no surprise) nearer Stanley Road catchment than Collis.
Now I am of the opinion that it is the general area and what other parents are like that matters (rather than if the school you go to is the one everyone gets their knickers in a twist about), but I have heard some negative things about Stanley Road. Is it just a bit of snobbery, or is it really not very good?
And what about Hampton primaries?
Thanks if you can help.

I soo wish I was in your position.
I grew up in Hampton and know teddington very well.
You are moving to a lovely area, the schools are all fab. I grew up in this area and yet as an adult have been pushed out by new people to the area with more money than me :( Stanley is a fine school, you'll have no problems there. Good luck in your new home. x

Judester24, thank you. Have just looked at the last distance a non-sibling got a place at Stanley last year and it was 2000 metres (Collis c.200!). It then said in brackets 'n/a - all preferences met', which I assume means that no child got turned away who named it as first pref. So if it is a good school, with no bunfight AND in Teddington, it gets a big thumbs up!
