Late Admission Form for Junior School

Two days ago I discovered that I had not applied for my daughters Junior School Placement which was supposed to be in by 15 January 2012.
We live in the catchment area and she is in the Infant Feder School, I have also had to other sibling go through the same school. I have been advised by the LA that she will be put down as a Late Admission and will not be considered until the on-time allocations have been delt with. Her school is also an Academy School, although not sure if that makes any difference. If anyone can give me any information or guidence I will be extremely grateful as it feels like my world has fallen apart right now.

Sounds like you have been given correct info, you are applying late and all other applications will be dealt with first. Its how the system works , the deadline was teh same for every one.
You will just have to wait and see.

Is the school over -subscribed?

pointshoes · 07/03/2012 21:14

Im not sure if they're over subscribed, is there anywhere I can find out this information.
If they're oversubscribed and I have to go on a waiting list, will I remain at the bottom or do they take in to consideration im in the catchment area and in the feeder school?
Thank you

I am afraid that you have been told the correct process, you will not be considered in the first allocation for the junior school. However I bet you will not be the only one in the same situation, so do not despair.
However as soon as the first round of allocations have been completed, you will then be put back into the system and a new list made up and you will be put in the list based on the original admission criteria. That will probably mean that you are near the top of the waiting list assuming they give preference to catchment zone and maybe who attended the infant school.
A lot will depend the number of applications that did not go to the infant school but for whatever reason now want to go to the junior school.
The fact that the school is an Academy should make no real difference to you, it is only who carries out some of the processes that will change. It is the Local Authority admission office that will handle all the applications and this who you need to keep in touch with.

It's probably not yet public knowledge if they had more applicants than places this year. allocations haven't gone out yet.
Was her year group at infant school full?

pointshoes · 07/03/2012 21:57

Her current year group has 2 places.

Thank you all so much.
